Each photo had so much personality and life to it, and we are so thrilled with how our wedding day was depicted: as it was. We enjoyed the majority of our cocktail hour, and maybe stole away for 20 minutes for beautiful sunset shots right after dinner. Michelle was absolutely seamless- she captured sweet, funny, and intimate moments without us feeling like we were torn from our event. Michelle coordinated her schedule directly with our coordinator, and she was perfectly available, on time, and communicative in the weeks before and on our wedding day. She made us feel relaxed, at ease, and not at all like we needed to pose, perform, or pay attention to anything but having fun and being with each other. We met up with her for an engagement shoot (and to get to know each other a bit more) and had a blast walking around the property she was living in at the time (a gorgeous barn/vineyard combo!). Michelle is approachable, understanding, and kind- we never felt like we were pressured or rushed into making any decisions. Her get to know you and booking process is super straight forward. We were drawn to her more editorial, authentic style, and that shone through in our final wedding photos- which we loved. Nothing like it.We had the pleasure of working with Michelle for our wedding in May 2022. There is that sense of anticipation in not knowing exactly what you have captured on film and relying on instinct and intuition, the process of taking photos is more considered, I think, and of course there’s a beautiful magic in the development of the film, then seeing the images slowly appear on paper in the chemical baths. I have been shooting mainly digital, more for convenience than anything else, but I am starting to pick up the film cameras again, whenever I can. That’s when I started doing portraiture in ernest. In 2009 I bought my first digital camera to by-pass the darkroom issue. Photography became more prominent in my life - even though with 2 young children, and no access to a darkroom, I couldn’t dedicate the time to it I wanted to. Although I’ve been collecting B&W photos for many years, spending time with such an inspirational photographer gave me a while new appreciation for the medium. He never left the house without a camera on him and it was wonderful watching him shoot, what caught his eye. Luchi's Hands by Betina La Plante on 500pxĬan you describe a pivotal moment, occasion, or photograph that made you realize you wanted to be a photographer?īETINE: Meeting and becoming friends with Elliott Erwitt when I lived in East Hampton made me look at photography differently. I decided to master this genre using every opportunity to take pictures and experiment with them playing with lines, patterns, light and colours. Since then my photography has been focused primarily on architecture, interiors and exteriors. I soon realized that I was most attracted to architecture, both contemporary and historical whether taking pictures myself or viewing them on the web. Since then I have devoted all my spare time to my renewed passion for photography.Īt the beginning of my photographic journey I was not sure what type of photography I would master and what direction I wanted to go in I was taking pictures of everything from macro to portrait, from landscape to wildlife, from architecture to transportation. It was not until I came to Canada in 2009 that I was able to renew my interest in photography when I acquired a Canon T2i, my first DSLR camera, which I then upgraded to a Canon 7D and then a full-frame DSLR camera (Canon 5D Mark II). I played with it and learned how to manipulate the photos in a dark room but there weren’t any opportunities to pursue photography in Georgia. ROLAND SHAINIDZE: My interest in photography began in my home country of Georgia when I was just a teenager using my brother’s old film camera (Zenit).
